Solve Bottleneck Issues With System Flow
Some of you have employees, some do not and never want to. What I’m about to share with you applies either way.
Bottlenecks … or constipation … we can all agree they’re not only a blockage, but they are painful reminders that something could have been done much earlier to prevent the issue!
Our role as leaders in our companies is to empower and enable the next link to do well. That might be your manager; that might be your customer or client.
Make sure you have done your due diligence in this area so everyone can grow. (And business can flow!)
Roles should be properly defined and acknowledged by everyone. Standards of Procedures (SOPs) should be written up and reviewed periodically for system flow. This helps you to check your expectations, and hold people accountable. MOST BUSINESSES SKIP THIS VITAL STEP. Just doing it sets you above your competition and prepares you for catapult!
Even if you’re a family business, you should be holding regular weekly and monthly meetings that encourage growth and buy in of a positive company culture. You want them to WANT to, but the culture is the responsibility of the owner and management.
You can’t MAKE anyone do ANYTHING, but you can understand how to incentivize and empower your team to make more money and enjoy the benefits of a successful company. If THEY depend on YOU alone for pay increases and customer/client management, YOU are the bottleneck and the company cannot grow – and you allowed it.
Meetings should be focused on ONE thing, and regularly cover these topics:
- Sales techniques, marketing strategies, and sales performance accolades
- Customer service improvements and shortfalls so an agenda for solutions can begin
- Brainstorming sessions to encourage ideas for growth
- Technology, fleet, or social media issues, training, or standards review
Our companies don’t have to be … well, constipated.
Enjoy your life in business! Encourage the flow of money, ideas, and personal growth!
