The Politics of Faith and Business in The Digital Solutions Market
Most people would say politics, faith and business don’t belong together at all.
This is an interesting time for Christian business owners. Not only is this a presidential election year, but it’s also a year of regulatory entanglements that are bludgeoning American micro and small business into brand new, almost unrecognizable shapes. We don’t much like it.
We need to hire, but hiring has become much less attractive to the 80% of American businesses who tend to be family owned with 9 employees or less. We’re leary.
When I started OffBeat Business Media, I thought I was solving the issues related to ‘hats’. Everywhere I went, almost everyone I’ve spoken with, and almost all of my clients on the consulting leg of my business were trying to keep up with everything from sales to accounting to payroll, management and marketing all by themselves, wearing every hat in their business. I hoped that by connecting with the realities of this demographic, we would become familiar with one another and finally begin to grow past the limitations of a one-man or one-woman effort.
It’s a control issue, to be sure, and when the talent already exists that could step in and alleviate some of that workload, we still have matriarchs and patriarchs that are often unwilling to learn the communication skills unique to this new generation of mindsets. This may be the largest generational gap we have ever seen.
The struggle to delegate is very real, and very frustrating. But it’s not the only thing that has hampered our growth. We are now regulated with an intricate, penalty heavy tax code, municipal and state regulations have intensified, the majority of us are losing BIG due to the requirements imposed by ‘affordable’ health care, and if that’s not enough, we’re dealing with the issues surrounding the addicts in our families or work spaces. Once on parole or probation, often the only people that will hire ex-offenders are their family’s businesses. Regular meetings must be kept, and without driver’s licenses, unless someone takes them to meet their officer, they will lose significant time during daylight hours to go. Weekly. Another significant cost of time and money many don’t consider to be small business issues, but we know they most certainly ARE.
Distraction today is at an all time high. Traditional business coaching in blocks of 3-4 hours or all weekend events for thousands of dollars are just not working. Event attendance is down virtually everywhere because time and money have dwindled away.
And that’s why OffBeat Business Media says, “We’ll help.”
Continuing education is paramount to business growth, but we need to think differently about the needs of this community. OffBeat Business Media understands and encourages your need to step out in faith, adhere to your morals and rise above your circumstances. You don’t need more government mandates that make it harder to turn a profit. You need simple, easy to use and easy to understand information available at YOUR discretion.
You also need to be connected to other business owners that are excelling in areas where you struggle. Their insight can often turn on a light so you can work smarter or trust that it really is time to outsource or delegate that task.
We’ve identified the following areas of severe neglect, that if corrected, would catapult the majority of business owners into the next tax bracket.
People are still uncomfortable shooting their own videos and producing their own audios, reasoning that if they bomb, their reputation would be irreparable.
While the whole ‘blogging’ thing had its merits, we need to be honest and recognize that type of content generation is just silly – even though Google and the rest of the internet world wants that data so bad they drool. Problem is, consumers aren’t using online content the way people are teaching it or actually doing it. There’s a disconnect here.

Multiple Hat Syndrome
MHS still exists. We know best and therefore we will decide how it’s done and micro-manage the success of new attempts and work twice as long as we need to because one day the magic customer will walk through the doors and that ONE account will turn it around. THEN we might take our fingers off of something that truthfully, someone else should be doing.
The OffBeat Business Media Approach: Get to know the experts you trust through The OffBeat Business Alliance. Your membership gets you into our directory, available through our website AND OffBeat Business app. Members offer special rates for each other to encourage new, long-term relationships that grow business. Additionally, leave reviews for each other to help lift each other up and let others know who you trust.
From vehicle wraps to SEO to billboards, radio ads and magazine advertising – we have multiple ways to get our companies in front of our customers, but when money gets tight, so do our marketing budgets. We wish that one investment would pay off BIG, and neglect a complete strategy that works.
The OffBeat Business Media Approach: Because we’re internet driven, we offer unbeatable advertising rates in full and half page, and 30 and 60 second radio ad spots. We even script and record them for you at no additional charge. If you want a professional voice over artist, get the very best at a nominal rate. Television ad production is also available at unheard of pricing – and the DFW market alone can get you in front of 6.5 million viewers!
But that’s not all. Our annual sponsorships are an affordable way to create an entire marketing strategy fit to your budget, AND they include consultation.
Listen, it’s never been more important for the Christian business community to develop their influence locally, nationally and abroad. It’s time to take advantage of the digital space and grow our businesses beyond our imaginations!
Together, we can be a voice of legislative reason, protecting our families and businesses from the heavy, intrusive hand of Big Brother. Together, we can enjoy successful lives in business and with the excess of time and money, begin to repair our communities through meaningful outreach.
Yes, faith, politics and digital marketing solutions have finally found a way to merge for sound business growth and a voice of sanity in a crazy world. Welcome to OffBeat Business Media.
